The best place in the world...
Baked Beans for Maddie's BaptismMy Granddaughter was baptised today at St John's and what a spiritual occasion it was. This cradle Catholic lives in central London and to find myself in a church that is warm and welcoming was a treat. Add to this the wonderful sense of God and Tradition permeating the church was uplifting. There was also great fun to be had, children played at a table laid out for them (they are clearly important here) all joined in the Baptism. It was very moving, the Baptismal shell is victorian and the ceremony moved me to tears. It soon turned to laughter when Father David when mentioning the great response to the Harvest Festival offered wee Maddie, along with her Baptismal candle, a tin of beans (they've had 48 tins so far). I will attend this church though it is far from where I live (the Parish lunch is ever so dinnery - people were lining up for seconds. Maddie's great grandmother used to say that Mass sets you up for the week. It certainly does in this Church.
Good drop in service for help at 11am
My Nan bought the roof for this church, she used to clean it also. I'm sure some of the staff will remember her this is a decent church, I'm Muslim myself but have respect for Christian brothers and sisters and this is a place that is teaching decent Christianity and not forcing it down your throat or becoming too modernised. Definitely reccomended for any Christians looking to have some peaceful quiet moments and to just worship God.
Amazing place and homely feel
