9.60 for a glass of wine !!! Completely ridiculous. The food was warm but had waited so long for it couldn't wait any longer by sending it back. Had learnt my lesson from the previous visit when my partner and I ended up eating separately as mine took so long to come back as the steak wasn't cooked properly! Used to have such a nice atmosphere - now feels like you are interrupting a youth club/text fest by daring to want to get served! What a shame !! A year ago the review I put of this pub was completely different - used to be a favourite but has gone down hill massively!!!
A group of 12 (or so) of us arrived early Saturday afternoon to what was quite a quiet pub. Staff were really friendly, big tvs but sound low enough (or off?) to not be intrusive. Food was really nice too.
Friendly local pub, the food was very good for the price. Starter of sourdough and butter set the meal right up. Mention also to the very friendly waiter, helped the mood at this cosy location.
Service was very good but sadly food quality wasn't like that. Roast was not Sunday magical. Other meal was not enjoyed or finished. What they called an apple and berry crisp was simple dry ingredients thrown on top of what I believe was delightful fruit...think of protein powder spooned on top of warm fruit. Couldnt finish. The final coffee was good.
Love this place! Perfect for after work drinks and casual food that tastes insanely good (their chef must be a magician). Also a shout out to the staff - as friendly and competent as they could be. Really cozy family-like atmosphere. Also usually it's not overcrowded but there are enough people in here to have some privacy; fave evening-chill pub in Watford at the moment :)
