I have used Maffey and Brentnall many times over the years and have always found them helpful, efficient and their charges very reasonable.
I spoke to Maffey & Brentnall about using them for conveyancing on a house purchase. They initially quoted a charge of 100 plus VAT for work to claim a help to buy ISA bonus even though as per the government's rules, they are only allowed to charge up to 50 plus VAT. They told me that this was because 'it's a lot of work and very complicated.'I questioned this via email through their website and received no reply. However, the quote had been adjusted down in their written summary of charges to me.Unfortunately they added a quote of 236 for the Telegraphic Transfer Fee for the completion of purchase payment! This should actually cost only 30-50.... If this is a real quote I will not be using them. If it's a mistype I also won't be using them as they clearly have a poor eye for detail!
